Epidemiological study of prevelance and etiology of deafness at Bhavnagar district  (ICMR sponcered    project) (Multicentric study

Department is running the NPPCD project and summery of work done under it is as following:

ENT DEPARTMENT,

GOVT. MEDICAL COLLEGE & SIR T. HOSPITAL,

BHAVNAGAR.

(1) Equipments acquired :

PTA
BERA
Impedance Audiometer
OAE
ENT Operating Microscope
ENT examination kit (Dispensed to medical officers of
Bhavnagar Dist.)

(2) Training:

All level training done as following:
(a) Asha & Anganwadi workers of Bhavnagar Dist. trained in
year 2007
(b) 66 Medical Officer’s of Bhavnagar Dist. trained in
year 2007-2008
(c) OBS / Gynecologist & Pediatrician of Bhavnagar Dist sensitized

(3) Recruitments :

(a) Audiologist -1 (In year 2009)
(b) Instructor for hearing impaired – 1 (In year 2011)

(4) Camps and Hearing Aid dispensing:
Total 6 camps done from January 2009 to November 2009
Total 310 children screened
158 hearing aid given
