Examination Pattern
Degree : M.D.(Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy)
University Examination consists mainly of three parts :
- Theory Examination
- Practical Examination
- Thesis Assessment
Theory Examination will consist of 4 papers at the end of 6 academic terms. An academic term shall mean six months training period. The Chairman will take suggestions from remaining other examiners (internal & external) and draw a balanced paper. There will be four papers of three hours each with 100 marks in each paper-a total of 400 marks.
The paper will be drawn as follows :

PAPER - III | STD and Leprosy | |
PAPER - IV | Recent Advances in field of Dermatology , Applied Sciences pertaining to skin/VD and internal medicine and skin |
Practical examination shall consist of (a) Clinical (b) Oral examination & (c) Pathological Skills.
Examiners come from outside. 2 External examiners and 2 Internal Examiners making a total of 4 Examiners. Different examiners for practicals and thesis respectively.
Total marks - 600
(a) Clinical examination for the subject in clinical sciences should be aimed at eliciting the Knowledge and Competence of the candidate for undertaking independent work as a specialist/teacher.

- Dissertation Examination :
Every candidate shall carry out work on an assigned research project under the Guidance of a recognized Postgraduate Teacher, the results of which shall be written up and submitted in the form of a dissertation.
Work of writing the dissertation is aimed at contributing to the development of a spirit of inquiry, besides exposing the candidate to the techniques of research, critical analysis, acquaintance with the latest advances in the literature. Dissertation has to be submitted well in advance of Theory and Practical Examination i.e. at least six months before the examination.
The dissertation will be assessed by 3 examiners and 2 of them should be external, it's acceptance shall be a precondition for the candidate to appear for the examination.
Diploma : D.V.D. (Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy)

(a) Clinical examination for the subject in clinical sciences should be aimed at eliciting the Knowledge and Competence of the candidate for undertaking independent work as a specialist/teacher.

Passing Schedule : For Both Degree and Diploma
Minimum passing marks for theory and practical is 50% independently and in of failure under any heading, the candidate will have to appear for whole exam after six months
Minimum 50% of examiners should be external(i.e. from university of other state).

- Clinical examination
All the two pairs of examiners shall simultaneously assess the candidate on long case. The candidate will be given 50 minutes while the assessment by examiners will be completed in 30 minutes; each pair of examiners will give marks out of 100.
20 minutes is given for evaluation a case of STI.
20 minutes is given for evaluation a case of Leprosy.
There will be 5 cases each, 10 minutes will be given for each case.
